wines.vg | A great wine comes from a great grape

The European Wine Blogger’s Conference  is announcing its 2010 location in Vienna, Austria, on October 22-24!
Last year’s conference, held in Lisbon, Portugal, brought together over 120 bloggers, social media innovators and wine industry leaders from 14 different countries. Compared to the first edition, held in 2008 in Logroño, Spain, participation tripled, with very positive results. [...]

After exhaustive research by our panel of judges here is a list of movies that star alcohol in some way. Conspicuously missing are a lot of quite good wine movies. Once I started making the list it became clear to me that Alan Rickman’s Steve Spurrier would pass out long before the spurned Arthur was even warmed up.

Baptism by Grape

Baptism by the grape can truly be considered a religious experience to even the most unsuspecting wine drinker. When the palate is introduced to the right varietal at that pivotal moment, whether it was accompanied by a meal or not, the flavors hit all of the important sensory points and you just want to throw your hands in the air and shout “hallelujah!” Ok maybe it is not that dramatic but you get the picture.

Does this mean we’re all victims of our emotions? Does it mean that wine and food critics are completely full of it and you shouldn’t trust anything we say? Our visit to New Orleans last month as part of Harrah’s Greatest Weekend Ever was met with such hospitality and warmth that we feel like extended family. We cannot think of a city that deserves a trip to the Super Bowl more!

Hello once again! After a rather long, and much appreciated respite from the wildly successful 2009 EWBC (red wines stains still being taken out of our apparel), we’re now gearing up for 2010. Now, this isn’t to say that we haven’t been hatching glorious plans behind the scenes, but it is to say that Robert, [...]

Wine for Haiti

We have all seen the horrific scenes on the news from the unthinkable tragedy unfolding in Haiti. There are so many people there suffering, and so many people here wanting to help. In the wine community many of us are pulling together with Brother, Can you Spare a Bottle? and Palate Press: The Online Wine [...]
